Indian Army Short Service Commission Application: The Indian Army has officially opened applications for the Short Service Commission (SSC) NCC Special Entry Scheme for unmarried male and female candidates, including Wards of Battle Casualties of Indian Army personnel. This opportunity allows eligible candidates to serve as officers in the Indian Army under a short-term commission.
The application process is online only through the official Indian Army website, and candidates must ensure they meet the necessary eligibility criteria before applying. The deadline to submit applications is March 15, 2025. Those selected will undergo a rigorous training program at the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai, before being commissioned into service.
Eligibility Criteria for SSC NCC Special Entry
Age Limit
- Candidates must be between 19 and 25 years old as of July 1, 2025.
- Birthdate should be between July 2, 2000, and July 1, 2006 (both dates inclusive).
Educational Qualification
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from a recognized university with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks across all semesters.
- Final-year students can apply if they have secured at least 50% aggregate marks in the first two or three years of their degree course. However, final selection will require them to maintain a minimum of 50% overall marks in their final results.
NCC Service Requirement
- Candidates must have served for a minimum of two or three years (as applicable) in the Senior Division/Wing of NCC.
Vacancy Details
The Indian Army has announced a total of 76 vacancies under this recruitment drive:
- NCC Men: 70 vacancies
- 63 seats for the General Category
- 7 seats reserved for Wards of Battle Casualties
- NCC Women: 6 vacancies
- 5 seats for the General Category
- 1 seat reserved for Wards of Battle Casualties
Training and Service Conditions
Training Duration
- Selected candidates will undergo a 49-week training program at OTA Chennai.
- Candidates will be assigned to Pre-Commission training based on their merit rankings.
Marital Status and Restrictions
- Candidates cannot marry during the training period.
- They are not permitted to live with their parents or guardians during training.
- Marriage is strictly prohibited until the completion of training at OTA.
Cost of Training
- The entire cost of training is funded by the Government.
- If a candidate withdraws from training for reasons other than medical grounds or factors beyond their control, they must refund the cost of training, which is ₹16,260 per week (as of 2023).
