BPSC Rules Out Cancellation Of Prelims Test: The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has firmly decided against canceling the 70th Integrated Combined (Preliminary) Competitive Examination (CCE) 2024 despite ongoing protests from a section of candidates. Instead, the commission has scheduled a re-examination for affected candidates on January 4, 2025. This decision underscores the BPSC’s commitment to maintaining fairness while ensuring that the examination process proceeds without further delays.
Amid claims of irregularities during the original exam held on December 13, 2024, BPSC Examination Controller Rajesh Kumar Singh emphasized that the protests lack substantial evidence. The re-examination will address concerns raised by candidates at one specific center while safeguarding the interests of the majority who participated without issues.
Decision to Continue the Examination Process
BPSC Examination Controller Rajesh Kumar Singh confirmed the decision to conduct a re-examination rather than cancel the entire test. “The re-examination will take place on January 4, 2025, and candidates can download their admit cards from January 2, 2025. It will be organized at different locations,” Singh stated.
Singh clarified that the protests primarily arose from incidents at the Bapu Examination Centre. However, no irregularities were reported at the remaining 911 centers, where the majority of the 3.28 lakh candidates appeared for the exam without complaints. He further noted that only around 2,000 candidates are protesting, while the commission has received numerous emails urging that the exam not be canceled.
“The commission cannot risk delaying or canceling the exam for the sake of a few protestors, particularly when the majority of candidates are not raising concerns,” Singh added.
Timeline and Next Steps
- Re-Examination Date: January 4, 2025
- Admit Card Availability: From January 2, 2025
- Main Examination Schedule: April 2025
- Expected Result Declaration: Last week of January 2025
The commission assured that the re-examination would be conducted smoothly, and preparations for the main examination are already underway.
Addressing Protest Concerns
Responding to allegations of irregularities and demands for cancellation, Singh dismissed the claims as baseless and fabricated. He pointed out that the ruckus was limited to a single examination center, and the protesting candidates have failed to provide concrete evidence to support their allegations.
In light of recent clashes during protests, Singh expressed regret over the use of force but reiterated that protests in the vicinity of the BPSC office violate administrative guidelines. “The district administration designated Gardanibagh as the location for protests, and students are expected to follow the established rules,” he remarked.
Commitment to Fairness and Transparency
The BPSC remains committed to conducting examinations transparently and ensuring a fair opportunity for all candidates. By addressing specific concerns through a targeted re-examination, the commission has sought to strike a balance between managing disruptions and maintaining the integrity of the selection process.
Candidates are encouraged to stay updated on official notifications and adhere to the guidelines for a smooth examination process.
