CAT 2021: Eligibility Criteria For Candidates “promotion/ pass” certificate

CAT 2021: Students have voiced concerns with the CAT 2021 qualifying requirements and application procedure for pandemic graduates from the previous two years.

NEW DELHI: Due to the epidemic years, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad, the test conducting authority for CAT 2021, has received a lot of inquiries from applicants who had “promotion/pass” certificates instead of “marks” certificates. Many new adjustments to the CAT 2021 eligibility standards have been made in light of the realities. The CAT qualifying requirements have been described in this article.

According to the most recent CAT 2021 announcement, candidates must have earned a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% for SC/ ST/ PwD candidates).

CAT 2021 eligibility criteria

In light of the interruption in COVID-19 epidemiology and assessments across the country, the CAT exam committee has made the following exclusions for CAT 2021.

CAT 2021 eligibility for Final year candidates

  • Students who received “promotion/pass” certificates instead of “award of marks” certificates in any of the last two years of their bachelor’s degree can select this option on the CAT 2021 application form.
  • This will enable the student to complete and submit the CAT 2021 application form notwithstanding the minimal qualifying requirements (45 percent and 50 percent [or equivalent CGPA] respectively). This modification of eligibility also applies to final-year students who have received an “award” of grades.

NOTE: This exemption is only accessible to individuals who are finishing their undergraduate degree or are in their last year of undergraduate study this year (graduation years – 2021 and 2022).

CAT 2021 eligibility for candidates graduated in 2020 and 2021

The CAT team has decided to remove the minimum marks (45 percent and 50 percent [Or equivalent CGPA] respectively) for appearing in the CAT 2021 exam due to the implementation of point 1 and the fact that different evaluation patterns may be followed by different universities across the country due to the COVID-19 epidemic. NOTE: This exemption is provided to guarantee that applicants who finish their bachelor’s degrees in 2020 and 2021 are fairly represented. This notification solely relates to the qualifying requirements for taking the CAT test in 2021. Students should review and adhere to the admission policies of the different institutes/colleges.
