Sharda Sinha ICU News: 72-year-old singer Sharda Sinha, a Padma Bhushan recipient, is suffering from cancer.
Due to complications from her disease, renowned folk singer Sharda Sinha was brought to AIIMS-Delhi and is currently on life support. The 72-year-old musician, who received the Padma Bhushan, is receiving treatment at the hospital’s oncology unit. In 2017, she received a diagnosis of multiple myeloma, a bone marrow-related malignancy.
In Delhi, Ms. Sinha has been receiving medical care. She became unwell on Saturday and was admitted to AIIMS-Delhi. When her condition worsened this morning, she was placed on life support after previously being in the intensive care unit.
A few weeks ago, Ms. Sinha lost her husband, Braj Kishore Sinha, to a brain hemorrhage brought on by a fall. Earlier this year, the couple commemorated their 54th wedding anniversary.
According to sources, Union Health Minister JP Nadda stopped at AIIMS yesterday night to see how Ms. Sinha was doing. He asked senior health professionals to make sure she receives the finest care possible. It has been learned that the minister also had a conversation with Anshuman, Ms. Sinha’s son.
Sharda Sinha is one of the most prominent musicians from Bihar and has sung extensively in Maithili, Bhojpuri and Magahi languages. Her songs for the Chhath festival are all-time favorites and till recently, the singer would perform repeatedly at Chhath events. She has also sung popular songs for Bollywood movies such as Maine Pyar Kiya and Hum Aapke Hain Kaun. She also sang the Taar Bijli song in Anurag Kashyap’s cult movie Gangs of Wasseypur. She was also awarded the Padma Shri in in 1991 and the Sangeet Natak Akademi award.
