A first-time candidate, Shweta, shared, “Biology was easiest and physics the hardest.” Another aspirant, Aditya from Delhi, said, “The exam was slightly difficult. Physics was very tough and biology was easy.”

Several others echoed the same pattern. Shefali Agarwal from Dabri pointed out that the physics section contained “out-of-the-box and lengthy questions,” while chemistry and biology were relatively straightforward.

Some students also faced logistical challenges at exam centers. “I literally fainted inside, it was so hot. Their tabs were not working and biometric entry was slow,” Shefali added, emphasizing the need for better infrastructure during offline exams.

Marking Scheme, Exam Conduct, and Instructions

The NEET UG 2025 marking scheme follows a standard protocol:

  • +4 marks for every correct answer
  • -1 mark for each incorrect response
  • 0 marks for unanswered questions

The total marks for NEET UG 2025 are 720. Students had to attempt all 180 questions from physics, chemistry, and biology without any internal choice, following the revised exam pattern.

However, the conduct of the exam saw hiccups. Two students reportedly missed the exam due to late arrival, while another had to be rescued by police after being sent to the wrong center. There were also issues around the dress code, especially for female candidates wearing clothes with buttons, which led to entry denial in some cases.

NTA’s Exam Pattern, Student Volume, and What Comes Next

With over 22.7 lakh registrations this year, NEET UG 2025 marked a new high in applicant numbers. The NTA revised the exam pattern slightly this year, removing the optional section and making all 180 questions mandatory. This increased pressure on students to manage their time wisely.

In 2024, physics was also rated as the most difficult section, indicating a consistent trend. Biology continues to be the most scoring, primarily due to its reliance on NCERT content.

The next important step in the NEET UG 2025 process will be the release of the answer key and result, both expected by June 2025. This will be followed by centralized counselling by MCC for 15% AIQ seats, while state authorities will handle the 85% quota.
