It's not too difficult to sound effortlessly cool when playing Warframe. Ninjas in space and combat that prides itself on hyper-mobile moves, such knee slides and bullet hops, are included in the sci-fi looter shooter.

The best stealth games make the idea of skulking around a challenging and intriguing one. Despite the difficulty of incorporating 2D gameplay, Mark of the Ninja does so brilliantly.

Mark of the Ninja: Remastered

The formula from the venerable Commandos series is applied to Japan during the Edo period in Blades of the Shogun. You are in charge of a small group of combatants, each of whom has unique skills and advantages to master.

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun

The Messenger is one of the best Ninja Gaiden tributes out there. In order to prevent the end of the world, you take control of the titular Messenger as he sets out on a journey to carry an antiquated scroll to the summit of a far-off mountain.

The iconic ninja show Tenchu served as inspiration for the stealth game Aragami. Players must silently move through a few open-ended levels. The object of the game is to eliminate foes utilising a broad array of techniques and weapons without being noticed.

High-tech ideas abound in the Metal Gear series, which also features a perplexing plot that defies explanation. Fortunately for us, it also has some fantastic cyber ninjas.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

With its minimalistic art style and techno/trance soundtrack, this addicting momentum-based platformer will draw you in, but it's the responsive controls that will keep you hooked.

There is a lot to appreciate in Shadow Warrior 2's gameplay, which combines swordplay, reliable shooting mechanics, RPG systems, and abilities, if you can get over the protagonist Lo Wang's incessant wisecracking.

Shadow Warrior 2

The most recent game, simply dubbed Strider, is inspired by the Metroidvania subgenre. Strider is widely regarded as the current model for 2D ninja action games.

Even though Shadows Die Twice is From Software's sequel to Dark Souls III, the gameplay is noticeably different. Sekiro replaces a large portion of Dark Souls' emphasis on character development with stealth mechanics and grappling hook-based environment navigation.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

You can dodge enemy assaults, use time manipulation, and rush to outrun your opponents, but, like in Hotline Miami, you're always just one hit away from death.

Katana Zero

The years have been unexpectedly kind to the brilliantly ridiculous Ninja Blade, which was widely mocked at launch for its short runtime and reliance on QTEs. You play as a ninja dashing around Tokyo to eliminate the parasitic "alpha-worms" before it's too late.

Ninja Blade

In the somewhat generic dystopia of Ghostrunner, you play a wall-running, katana-swinging cyberpunk ninja. You'll be won over by its incredibly smooth parkour gameplay, huge amounts of gore, and booming techno score and start to feel badass in no time.
